The Maserati GranSport, produced between 2004 and 2007, was the high-performance evolution of the Maserati Coupé (4200 GT) and is often considered the peak of that lineage. It featured a Ferrari-developed 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that produced 395 horsepower and a legendary exhaust note, especially when its bypass valves opened in Sport mode. To distinguish it from the standard coupe, the GranSport sat 10mm lower on a retuned Skyhook adaptive suspension and featured more aggressive aerodynamics, including a pronounced front spoiler and a rear lip that reduced its drag coefficient to 0.33. Inside, the GranSport blended track-focused purpose with Italian luxury, often featuring high-grip sport seats upholstered in a mix of leather and specialized "BrighTex" fabric. Unlike its predecessor, it was offered exclusively with the Cambiocorsa six-speed sequential manual transmission, which allowed for faster shifts via steering-wheel-mounted paddles. While its successor, the GranTurismo, offered more interior room and daily refinement, enthusiasts often prefer the GranSport for its more "chuckable" and raw driving dynamics, making it a celebrated bridge between classic grand tourers and modern supercars
