Diablo 91-95 Sachs Clutch Rebuild

The 1991 Lamborghini Diablo debuted as the fastest production car in the world, succeeding the legendary Countach and serving as the flagship for Lamborghini’s new era under Chrysler ownership. Designed originally by Marcello Gandini and later refined by Chrysler’s design team, it featured a 5.7-liter V12 engine that produced approximately 485 to 492 horsepower. This massive power plant allowed the Diablo to reach a top speed of over 202 mph and sprint from 0 to 60 mph in roughly 4.5 seconds. The car’s driving experience is famously raw and "analogue," as the 1991 model lacked modern driver aids such as power steering, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and traction control. This mechanical purity, combined with a heavy gated five-speed manual transmission and unassisted rack-and-pinion steering, earned it a reputation as an intimidating but rewarding machine to drive at the limit. The early versions were strictly rear-wheel drive, emphasizing a direct and visceral connection between the driver and the road. Visually, the Diablo retained the iconic wedge shape and scissor doors that defined its predecessor, but with smoother, more aerodynamic lines for the 1990s. While its exterior was aggressive, the interior was significantly more refined than the Countach, featuring fully adjustable seats, electric windows, and hand-sewn Italian leather upholstery. Today, the 1991 Diablo is a highly coveted collector’s item, valued for being the last of the purely mechanical V12 Lamborghinis before the introduction of all-wheel-drive systems and more advanced electronics in later iterations.
