The 512 TR, introduced in 1991, was the natural evolution of the iconic Testarossa, featuring a 4.9-liter flat-12 engine producing 428 hp and improvements in suspension, braking, and chassis rigidity. Designed to refine the classic Testarossa formula, it offered sharper handling, more linear power delivery, and a more driver-friendly experience while retaining the dramatic styling that made the original so recognizable. The final iteration, the F512 M, increased power to 440 hp and featured minor design refinements, making it the definitive expression of the Testarossa lineage. Performance was formidable, with 0–60 mph achieved in approximately 4.8 seconds and a top speed of around 195 mph. The transversely mounted flat-12 engine and rear-wheel-drive layout provided a unique balance and a distinctive engine note, while upgrades to the gearbox and suspension enhanced precision and driver confidence. Both models blended thrilling performance with the unmistakable Testarossa presence. Styling remained bold and aggressive, with wide rear arches, side strakes, and low-slung proportions. Interiors were tailored for driver comfort with luxury appointments, yet maintained a sporty, purposeful feel. The 512 TR and F512 M remain celebrated for combining exotic aesthetics, high performance, and evolved drivability.
