The Aston Martin DB9, produced from 2004 to 2016, marked a major turning point for the brand as the first model built on Aston Martin’s VH (Vertical/Horizontal) aluminum architecture. Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the DB9 combined elegant proportions with modern construction, resulting in a lighter, stiffer chassis than its predecessor, the DB7. Power came from a 5.9-liter naturally aspirated V12, initially producing 450 hp, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, allowing the DB9 to reach 0–60 mph in about 4.9 seconds while maintaining refined grand-touring comfort. Over its lifespan, the DB9 received continuous updates that improved performance, technology, and interior quality. Later models gained more power up to 510 hpalong with improved adaptive suspension, updated infotainment, and a more focused yet still luxurious driving feel. Available as both a coupe and Volante (convertible), the DB9 balanced supercar performance with everyday usability and remains admired for its timeless design, naturally aspirated V12 soundtrack, and role as the foundation for later models like the DBS and DB11.
